This shorter wheelbase chassis and engine was a variant of the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith of 1946 and, with the same standard steel body, became the cautiously introduced Silver Dawn of 1949.
Specifications: 4 door, rear wheel drive, side exhaust and overhead intake valves. This model has a 4 speed manual gearbox, with the gear shift on the right hand side, by the driver’s door, so the chauffer couldn’t touch his ladyship’s legs by mistake when changing gear.
Original condition: on the road and driving, looking in fairly nice condition after the windshield replacement… but all was not as it seemed.
