Bentley Mk 6

Specification

Vehicle: Bentley Mark 6

Date: 1952

Engine: 4.7 litre

Specifications: 4 door, rear wheel drive, side exhaust and overhead intake valves. This model has a 4 speed manual gearbox, with the gear shift on the right hand side, by the driver’s door, so the chauffer couldn’t touch his ladyship’s legs by mistake when changing gear.

Original condition: on the road and driving, looking in fairly nice condition… but all was not as it seemed.

History

There is not much known about its original owners. Today it is part of a wedding fleet, belonging to Country Style Wedding Cars, of Elsted, West Sussex.

When the rust has got in as bad as this, the only way to deal with it is to cut it all out and start again.

We were going to change both rear wings anyway. This just shows the extent of the rust on the near side.

In for more surprises when we went to work on the boot floor. Most of it was held together by silicon glue, including chassis mounts.
